Career Overview

Network and computer administrators are responsible for all aspects of a computer network including its installation and daily operations of local area networks, wide area networks, and communication systems.

Education

A four-year bachelor's degree in computer science, network administration, computer engineering, or a related field is usually required to obtain this position. A higher degree (master's degree) in a related field, which may take an additional two-three years to earn, would be more valuable and may be required to obtain positions in some organizations.
